Intergenerational Food Memories

Thursday, July 12 Taste and memory are strongly associated. It affects everyone from old to young. How can we express our taste memories, even if they are happy or sad? And what does that say about our lives, our personal and collective histories? I will be working with participants of every age who are invited to join the discussion at the BMW-Guggenheim Urban Lab as part of a day themed around Age. In the evening everyone is welcome to bring food to share and help prepare food while recalling food histories and family recipes.

Thursday July 12 Program: Lab Team member Corinne Rose introduces the topic of the day: Age. Today 20 percent of the population is older than 65; in 2060 every third person will have reached that age. The effect of the aging population on the urban environment and on social services is one of the most significant global challenges—and opportunities—of the next 50 years. How can we take advantage of the wisdom of past experience? Discover a range of innovative projects, community initiatives, and public services designed to meet this growing need.  This program is in German.
